how to write a poem

should i write a poem all at once?
or should it be edited over and over and over?
should it be a quick outpour of words and phrases?
or should it be polished with pristine?
does the poem have to be serious and profound?
or can i make it a little silly?
how do i know
when to

i dont know how to write a poem.
the words just come.
Btw my dear friend (hi Anna) gave me Mary Oliver’s poetry handbook so I can learn the answers to my questions. This poem is like the before image of a weight-loss ad. We shall see what the after image is once I finish reading it.
